  • Gochujang - Gochujang is a unique red chilli bean paste made with fermented soybeans, chillies and a mixture of spices. It forms the base of a lot of Korean dishes and is often added to stews or rice - most famously it is used in the sauce for bibimbap 
  • Doenjang - Doenjang is like the brother to Gochujang, it’s also made with fermented soybeans but without the chillies. It is sometimes known as the Korean miso - as it adds a saltiness and depth of umami flavour to dishes.
  • Kimchi - Kimchi is a Korean condiment that is made with a range of fermented vegetables. Most families make their own kimchi or you can make it yourself using a fermenting crock.
  • Gochugaru - Not to be confused with gochujang, gochugaru is a red pepper powder that is used to make kimchi. It has fruity-sweet notes with a smoky hot kick.
  • Sesame Oil - Swap your olive oil for sesame oil when cooking Korean food. It’s often used to fry rice dishes, add depth to dipping sauces or as a dressing.
