Cherry Rocher Green Absinthe Grand Or 65%

Description

Absinthe is a vivid green, herbal spirit with an intense aniseed flavour. Cherry Rocher’s 65° absinthe is made by distilling a selection of plants, including two different types of wormwood. Its green colour is totally natural and earned it the name ‘la fée verte’ (the green fairy).

This premium quality absinthe was awarded the Grand Or award at the 2014 Pontarlier Absinthiades, a national competition that selects the best absinthes in France. It is available in two sizes: 350ml and 700ml.

Absinthe originated in Switzerland, where it was used as a medicine, but rose to popularity amongst writers and artists in France in late 19th and early 20th century France. It has a very high alcohol percentage but its ability to cause hallucinations is actually an urban legend.

Available in two sizes:

  • 350ml
  • 700ml

How to drink absinthe

Absinthe is traditionally diluted by slowly pouring cold water over a sugar cube placed on a spoon above the glass. The sugar water mellows its potent flavour and creates a smoother, more sippable drink. You can also serve it on the rocks as a digestif after dinner.

Absinthe is fantastic in cocktails, adding an unmistakable aniseed flavour and alluring green hue. Try adding a measure to Champagne to create Ernest Hemingway’s favourite tipple, Death in the Afternoon. It’s a key ingredient in a Corpse Reviver No 2, a classic gin sour, and the Sazerac, which is similar to an Old Fashioned.

Absinthe is also used in cooking, often added to sauces for meat and fish or used to flambé prawns.
