Amaretti Virginia Classic Amaretti

Description

Amaretti are Italian almond biscuits with a soft, chewy texture similar to a macaroon. In Italy, they are often served after dinner with coffee and sweet wine. Their name means ‘little bitter things’ - a nod to their semi-sweet, slightly bitter flavour. These traditional biscuits are a delicious treat at any time of day, either shared with friends or as a solo treat with a cup of tea.

Dating back to the 1700s, amaretti biscuits were first invented in Saronno, a city north of Milan in the region of Lombardy. Made with almonds, sugar, apricot kernels and eggs, they are famous for their intense almond flavour and aroma. There are two main types: amaretti morbidi, which are soft and chewy, and amaretti croccanti, which are crisp and crunchy.

Presented in a decorative green and gold tin, these traditional Italian biscuits are a wonderful gift for Italian food lovers.
