Greenfields Saffron, 0.6g

Description

Saffron is a fragrant spice used in sweet and savoury dishes. It’s sometimes called ‘red gold’ in a nod to its price point and the colour of the threads. Saffron has a complex flavour best described as earthy and slightly sweet.

Saffron is a popular ingredient in Indian, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine. It’s what gives paella and risotto Milanese their glorious golden hue. In France, it’s used to make bouillabaisse and in Morocco, they add it to tagines.

With its vibrant colour and unique flavour, saffron is a versatile addition to your spice rack. You can use it to make Persian rice or Scandinavian saffron buns. A little goes a long way, so use it sparingly.

Add a few saffron threads to olive oil to make a flavourful base for seafood stews. Or, soak the threads in water to make saffron rice. You can also add it to milk or cream to flavour rice pudding, custard and panna cottas.

Store in a cool, dry place.
