Natco Unrefined Jaggery, 500g

Description

Jaggery is a dark, coarse, and unrefined sugar made from sugar cane juice or the sap of a variety of palm tree. It has a sweet, rich and fudgey caramel flavour and can be used in any dish you would use normal sugar for to add extra flavour. Natco jaggery goor comes in a solid block and is used for making of Indian sweets, or when crushed can be sprinkled on cakes. In southern Indian cooking sweet jaggery is used to balance heat in curries. Or try it as a flavourful alternative to ordinary sugar in your tea or coffee - to add a real taste of distinction. Jaggery is in fact often called unrefined cane sugar.

The availability of jaggery depends on the success of the palm crop season and can sometimes be difficult to obtain. However, jaggery keeps for ages and a little goes a long way.

Ingredients: sugar cane juice.

Storage: store in a cool and dry place.
