My First Opinel Knife

Description

With My First Opinel Knife, your children can learn about knife safety while adventuring in the great outdoors.

This folding penknife is made to Opinel’s famous 200-year-old design, but with a rounded tip to make it safer for little hands. Take it on picnics, camping trips and hikes so your child can help with slicing food, cutting string or even a bit of wood carving! The knife is recommended for children 7 years old and up.

Go foraging for mushrooms and show them how to cut the stem, or even start off in the kitchen and practice cutting apples. They’ll love getting involved with their own folding knife and feeling like a grown up adventurer.

The modified Sandvik stainless-steel blade has a high carbon content, for excellent cutting quality and resistance to corrosion. The beechwood for the handle is from ethically sourced forests, and is varnished for resistance to water.

The Opinel family started as blacksmiths in Savoie, France in 1800. By 1890, Joseph Opinel had developed the first line of Opinel folding penknives, for which the company would soon become famous. The design is still true to the 200-year-old originals with just one little change – a rotating ‘cap’ where the blade meets the handle, so the knife can be locked open or closed.

Suitable for children aged 7 years and up with adult supervision.
