Description

Rice flour is made from ground, finely milled rice, and is a key ingredient for making rice noodles, Chinese pancakes and batters for Indian savoury snacks. Rice flour can be used in place of wheat flour, and has a neutral flavour making it a popular choice for baking with. 

Use rice flour to make appam, a Kerealan pancake consisting of blitzed rice, grated coconut, water, yeast and sugar. The batter is left to ferment for up to 12 hours, then thinly spread in a pan and cooked until golden, soft and lacy. These south Indian pancakes are typically served with vegetable stews or sweetened coconut milk.
