Toyama Koshihikari Japanese Grown Rice, 1kg

Description

It can be hard to find premium Japonica rice that’s been grown in Japan – most varieties that are available in the UK are grown in California. So we’re very happy we can offer Toyama Koshihikari rice. It is grown in Nyuzen, Toyama – a region of Japan famous for its pure spring water.

The first thing you’ll notice about the rice is how the grains are almost translucent. The hard, white, starchy coating has been polished away almost completely, for a superior texture when cooked. This also means the Koshihikari rice only needs a quick rinse before cooking – most varieties need a thorough wash to get rid of as much starch as possible.

Use Toyama Koshihikari rice to make mouth-watering sushi, or serve with an authentic Japanese curry. The rice has a unique flavour that is slightly sweeter than other Japanese rice varieties, with a good level of stickiness that makes it suitable for all Japanese cooking needs.

This sweet Japanese grown rice is a particularly good match for fresh fish and seafood.
