Freeze Dried Fruit

Freeze dried fruit is great for many uses. It has more concentrated flavour, better shelf-life and you can have a wide range of exciting options (think sour cherry, dragon fruit and pineapple). No additives. No preservatives. No sugar. Just fruit without the water. It's that simple.

Add some wild blueberry or dragon fruit powder to your buttercream, stir raspberry pieces through your brioche, or mix sour cherries into your ice cream without altering the water content.

What is freeze-dried fruit?

Freeze-dried fruit is a type of fruit that has had its water content removed through a process called freeze-drying. This process involves freezing the fruit and then placing it in a vacuum chamber where the pressure is lowered, and the frozen water is vaporized, a process called sublimation. This method allows the water to be removed without heating the fruit, which helps to preserve the fruit's natural flavors, nutrients, and texture.

Freeze-dried fruit has a light, crispy, and crunchy texture with a concentrated flavor that is similar to the original fruit. It is also known for its long shelf life, making it a convenient option for snacking, backpacking, and emergency food supplies. Freeze-dried fruit can be enjoyed on its own as a healthy snack or used as an ingredient in various recipes such as smoothies, desserts, and baked goods.

What is the difference between dried and freeze-dried fruit?

The main difference between dried fruit and freeze-dried fruit is the method used to remove the water content. Dried fruit is made by simply removing the water content through natural or artificial means such as sun-drying, dehydrating, or air-drying. This process results in a fruit product that is still somewhat pliable and retains some of its original texture but is typically harder and chewier than fresh fruit.
